Carajillo

carajillo cocktail in a glass in between a bottle of licor 43 and a french press.

A delicious Spanish cocktail that’s popular in places like Colombia and Mexico.

I’ve had many versions of this drink, some with brandy, others with sugar on the side, and one was like a latte (which I didn’t enjoy). But the best is the version that’s popular in México.

Ingredients:

Equal part espresso coffee

Equal part Licor 43 (Spanish liqueur)

Ice

Preparation:

For the coffee component, I like to use a Colombian roast or Cuban coffee and prepare it in a French press. I let it cool a little before I make it. All you need to do is add one giant ice cube into a rock glass, then pour in the coffee and liqueur. Stir with a mixer, spoon, or your finger. Then enjoy. Be careful, it goes down smoothly.
