brigadeiro

A sweet, easy-to-make Brazilian treat that hits the spot every time you eat it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 14oz can of condensed milk

  • 2 tbsp of unsweetened cacao powder

  • 2 tbsp of unsalted butter

  • Pinch of salt

  • Chocolate or rainbow sprinkles

Cooking:

To get a quick preview of how to make these sweets, checkout my video. Okay, back to the recipe. In a medium saucepan, heat up the condensed milk and butter on a medium-low flame. Once mixed, add the cacao powder and salt, and stir continuously. The mixture should thicken up. You’ll know it’s ready when you run your spatula down the middle and it slowly begins to close up again. Remove from the heat, and place it in a lightly buttered baking dish and let it cool for at least an hour or two. If it’s still too soft two hours later, pop in the fridge for another 2.

Preparation:

Once the mixture is cool, you’ll be ready to form those balls truffles. First, place your sprinkles on a plate. Next, add a little butter to your hands so the sweet mix doesn’t stick to you. Grab about a tablespoon worth of the mixture and roll it into a ball with your hands. Gently press and roll that ball onto the sprinkles to cover it. Place on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper, or mini baking cups. You should get around 12 candies.
